unnamed 2North America is craving the experimental aesthetics of the Netherlands and Vancouverites can experience a taste of it in September 2016 with Dutch Exchange: Eindhoven.

Dudoc Vancouver, a Walas concept,  is helping four carefully curated Eindhoven-based designers make a loud entrance into North America and receive continued support in the years thereafter. They will start with a showcase at Interior Design Show West, one of the most prominent design exhibitions in North America. IDS West is organizing a feature booth to highlight ingenuity from the Netherlands – the Dutch Exchange: Eindhoven. The designers will receive support in the form of profiling, connections, funding. After IDS West, taking place September 22-25 2016 in Vancouver, their products will be featured in Dudoc Vancouver for the following year.

This exciting project is made possible by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Vancouver, curation of designers by Design Milk and booth design by Burgers Architecture. Dudoc Vancouver will provide support of the designers' international business development to establish their brand abroad and find local clientele.

Dudoc's Young Placemakers featured

Last Saturday Vancouver was part of the 100in1Day event. Our Young Placemaker group decided it was a great opportunity to be part of this and created an urban intervention. ' Say it with Paint' challenged people to express their opinion on the 20 year old promise of the City of Vancouver to create a park where there still is a

parking. The canvas and the paint changed PARKING in to PARK and it got bystanders to think about their urban environment and placemaking.

Walas and Ecocities Frameworks at a crossroads

ecocitiesOn February 26th Walas Concepts was part of an international discussion about developing requirements for International Eco-City and Sustainable Neighbourhood Standards in cooperation with the Simon Fraser University hosted by Dudoc Vancouver.

The International Ecocity Framework and Standards provide both the vision for an ecologically restorative human presence on earth as well as a practical methodology for assessing and guiding the achievement of such vision through the lens of the ecocity. The IEFS platform adopts a systems view: not only is the built environment one of the elements of that system, but so are the humans living there, the other species sharing the same bioregion, as well as the human agency in the world through lifestyle choices, work and investments.
